Indications:Paracetamol is an analgesic and antipyretic drug. It is used for the relief of : Mild to moderate pain, Fever, Migraine & Tension headaches.Dosage:For adults and children 12 years of age and older, the recommended dose of paracetamol is 650 to 1000 mg every 4 to 6 hours as needed, not to exceed 4000 mg in 24 hours. For extended-release paracetamol, the dose is 1300 mg every 8 hours as needed, not to exceed 3900 mg in 24 hours. For children under 12 years of age, the recommended dose of paracetamol is 10 to 15 mg/kg every 4 to 6 hours, not to exceed five doses (50-75 mg/kg) in 24 hours.CONTRAINDICATIONS:Hypersensitivity to Paracetamol or to any of the excipients of the formulation. Patients with severe hepatic dysfunction.Side Effects:This drug usually has no side effects. If you have any unusual effects, contact your doctor or pharmacist promptly.If your doctor has directed you to use this medication, remember that he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.Drug Interactions:Alcohol : Chronic heavy alcohol abusers may be at increased risk of liver toxicity from excessive paracetamol use, although reports of this event are rare.Anticonvulsants : Some reports have suggested that patients taking long-term anticonvulsants, who overdose on paracetamol, may be at an increased risk of hepatotoxicity because of accelerated metabolism of paracetamol.Hydantoins : At usual oral therapeutic doses of paracetamol and hydantoins, no special dosage adjustment or monitoring is generally required.Precautions:Paracetamol at recommended doses has no obvious effects on central nervous system function. Most studies do not show any cross-reactivity with the use of paracetamol in aspirin- sensitive patients.In recommended therapeutic doses, paracetamol does not cause gastric irritation, gastric erosions, occult or overt gastrointestinal blood loss, or ulcers.A case-controlled, multi center study established that paracetamol is not associated with agranulocytosis or aplastic anemia.PREGNANCY :Epidemiological studies in human pregnancy have shown no ill effects due to paracetamol used in the recommended dosage, but patients should follow the advice of their doctor regarding its use.Nursing:Maternal ingestion of paracetamol in recommended analgesic doses does not present a risk to the nursing infant. Amounts in milk range from 0.1% to 1.85% of the ingested maternal dose.Overdose:Acute paracetamol overdose is defined as an ingestion of a toxic amount of paracetamol occurring within a period of 8 hours or less.Gastric decontamination should be carried out according to standard treatment guidelines.a) Activated charcoal should be given during the immediate post ingestion period, especially in the case of a mixed drug overdose. Administration of activated charcoal will not interfere with subsequent administration of oral acetylcysteine therapy.b) Syrup of ipecac given to children during the pre hospital phase may reduce subsequent plasma levels of paracetamol.STORAGE:Store in a cool & dry place, below 30°C. Protect from light.Keep out of reach of children.Keep the bottle tightly closed after use. Shake well before use.PRESENTATION: 100 ml Bottle in printed carton with pack insert.
