Each Film Coated Tablet Contains:Sevelamer Hydrochloride ………….800 mg Excipients………………………............q.sColour: Titanium Dioxide BPINDICATIONS :DEVLAMER is indicated for:Control of hyperphosphatemia in adult patients receivinghaemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis and in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) DEVLAMER should be used within the context of a multiple therapeutic approach, which could include calcium supplement, 1,25-dihydroxy Vitamin D3 or one of its analogues to control the development of renal bone disease.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION :The recommended starting dose of DEVLAMER is 2.4 or 4.8 g/day. DEVLAMER must be taken 3x per day with meals.DEVLAMER should be taken with food and not on an empty stomach.
SIDE EFFECTS :Very Common: Nausea, vomiting.Common: Diarrhoea, dyspepsia, flatulence, upper abdominal pain, constipation.Very Rare: HypersensitivityNot Known: Intestinal obstruction, ileus/subileus, intestinal perforation, Gastrointestinal hemorrhage, intestinal ulceration, gastrointestinal necrosis, colitis, intestinal mass, Pruritus, rashDRUG INTERACTIONS :Interaction studies have not been conducted in patients on dialysis.DEVLAMER decreased the bioavailability of ciprofloxacin by approximately 50%.Caution should be exercised when prescribing DEVLAMER to patients taking Anti-arrhythmics and anti-seizure medicinal products.Reduced levels of ciclosporin, mycophenolate mofetil and tacrolimus have been reported in transplant patients when coadministered with DEVLAMER.Co-administered DEVLAMER and levothyroxine causes increase in thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH).
WARNINGS AND PRECAUTION : Caution should be exercised when DEVLAMER is used in patients with following disorders:Swallowing disordersActive inflammatory bowel diseaseGastrointestinal motility disorders including untreated or severe gastroparesis, diverticulosis retention of gastric contents and abnormal or irregular bowel motionPatients with a history of major gastrointestinal surgery.
PREGNANCY AND LACTATION :The safety of DEVLAMER has not been established in pregnant and breast-feeding women. It should only be given if clearly needed and after a careful risk/benefit analysis has been conducted for both the mother and the infant.
OVERDOSAGE :The symptoms observed in case of overdose are similar to Side effects including mainly constipation and other known gastrointestinal disorders.Appropriate symptomatic treatment should be provided.CONTRAINDICATION :Hypersensitivity to active substance or to any of the excipientsHypophosphataemiaBowel obstruction.STORAGE : Store below 30°C. Protect from moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
